Alcohol Addiction Help

Whether it is a glass of wine with dinner, or a beer after work with colleagues, alcohol makes an appearance in so many parts of our lives that it can be easy to forget that it is addictive, both physically and psychologically.

Alcohol dependence can run in families. It can also be triggered by stressful events. If you are dependent on alcohol, you increase your risk of developing high blood pressure, stroke, coronary heart disease and liver disease, as well as the many psychological and relationship problems that occur.

At Equilibria, our counsellors and psychotherapists can help those who suffer from alcohol misuse and abuse, as well as the family members who are affected by it.

We work closely with Abbeycare, the UK's only alcohol-specific private residential detox and rehab facility. Abbeycare has a rehab clinic in Dalry, near Glasgow, and also Newmarket, near London, and treats people suffering with alcoholism and the problems associated with alcohol dependence and alcohol abuse.

Their treatment programme provides supervised detox, counselling and therapy, and the chance to work on the skills and motivation needed for overcoming alcohol addiction. Abbeycare's clinics are small, with a maximum of 12 clients in residence at any one time, allowing for tailored, specialist and individual care.
